Ronda Hicks

Ronda Hicks came to this field initially as a result of her professional activities in child abuse prevention.  In the 1990's, Ms. Hicks worked for a large prevention program on Long Island, serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties where she coordinated with Nassau county DSS on sexual abuse & juvenile sex offender cases in foster care. Prior, she was a member of the Sexual Abuse Investigation Team at the Department of Human Services in Cincinnati Ohio. She has presented trainings on child sexual abuse to social service caseworkers, conducted community education sessions with special victim officers regarding Megan’s Law, chaired the Nassau County Sex Offender Task force, member of the Juvenile Sexual Offender Project (Nassau/Suffolk County) and was a co-leader in several non-offending parent and offender groups. She embodies the multidisciplinary approach in dealing with sexual abuse and sexual offender cases.

Prior to the creation of our state chapter of ATSA, Ms. Hicks joined the parent organization, the New York State Alliance of Sex Offender Service Providers. Subsequently, she came onto our Board of Directors, and served for several years as our Secretary.  Ms. Hicks is highly competent and professional, as well as warm and generous.  She donated hundreds of hours of volunteer time to the various projects of the Alliance, including the establishment of our own state chapter of ATSA, which she subsequently joined. In 1999 she was given an award from the board for “thinking out of the box.”

After a five year hiatus from the field, Ronda Hicks is now back working in the field of sex offender management.  She is a Parole Officer with our New York State Division of Parole, Sex Offender Unit. She currently supervises a specialized offender caseload in Brooklyn.  She has a Masters in Criminal Justice and is a certified clinical criminal justice specialist with certification from the National Association of Forensic Counselors
